Sparklers are hand-held and burn hot, so supervision, distance and safe cooling matter every time.
Supervise children
Do NOT give sparklers to anyone under five years old. Supervise older children at all times. Light sparklers one at a time and wear suitable gloves, including when lighting them.
Hold away from the body
Keep sparklers at arm's length and away from faces, hair, clothing, and other people.
One at a time
Light one at a time, do NOT bundle sparklers together or wave them near others.
Cool safely
Place spent sparklers flat, fully submerged in a bucket or preferably a metal tray of cold water, away from children. Do not touch the hot end.
